OpenURL Link Guide for the LAPTOC Database

Your institution does not need to be a LARRP member to use LAPTOC or to implement OpenURL access.

To allow your users to use your institution's OpenURL resolvers, provide a link for them that follows this pattern:
http://www1.lanic.utexas.edu/query/ill_set.jsp?url=resolver_url&image=link_image

resolver_url means the base URL of the OpenURL server. (Example: For MSU, it's http://magic.msu.edu:4550/resserv)

link_image means the image that's used for the OpenURL links. (It should be something quick to load and no more than 100 pixels wide and 50 pixels high . Example: For MSU, it's http://magic.msu.edu:4550/resserv)

So, using MSU as an example, the complete URL would be http://www1.lanic.utexas.edu/query/ill_set.jsp?url=http://magic.msu.edu:4550/resserv&image=http://magic.msu.edu:4550/resserv

The url will set the cookies necessary for the OpenURL to work.

Technical questions may be sent to LANIC.
