CALL FOR ABSTRACTS/PROPOSALS

"Perceptions of Race and Ethnicity, and the Pursuit of Rights"
The National Association for Ethnic Studies invites abstracts/proposals
for papers, panels, workshops, or media productions from people in all
disciplines and interdisciplinary areas of the arts, business, social
sciences, humanities, and science.
The conference will create a lively forum for the discussion of issues
pertinent to the theme including, but not limited to, the following:
o the challenge of diversity in public schools; education and public
policy;
o the publishing industry (who and what get published);
o the justice system;
o language;
o immigration;
o immigrant communities;
o immigrant communities;
o health care and race or ethnicity;
o health care and minority communities;
o the communication media;
o the entertainment industry;
o advantaging whiteness;
o advocacy groups;
o and banking and financial industry.
Two-hundred-fifty-word abstracts/proposals should be submitted by
October 8, 1999, which relate to any aspect of the theme with
participant's institutional affiliation and mailing address, telephone and
fax number, and e-mail address. The abstract/proposal must indicate
whether the presentation is an individual paper or a complete panel
presentation. Complete panel proposals must include abstracts for each
individual presenter. All program participants must pay full conference
registration and 2000 NAES membership dues.
