AUSTIN, Texas -- Texas Guaranteed Student Loan Corporation (TG), as part of the
Texas Awareness Initiative, is again offering its updated Financial Aid
Awareness Kit in
English and in Spanish for the 1999-2000 academic school year.

In its fourth consecutive year in production, the kit contains information
and products designed to help parents and students better understand the
financial aid process and to make their experience simpler, more productive,
and less threatening.

The Financial Aid Awareness Kit includes the following tools:

-- "Financial Aid Resource Guide" -- A detailed overview of financial aid
sources and the federal financial aid application process. The guide
follows the complete flow of paperwork and follow-up required by
parents and students. Also included in the guide is a personal
finance and debt management section with a budget worksheet and loan
repayment schedule.

-- "The Big Picture" -- An audio cassette describing the financial aid
process.

-- "FAFSA: Step-by Step for Parents and Students" -- An annually recorded
video of TG's statewide teleconference on how to complete the Free
Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

-- "The Bottom Line" -- A computer software diskette that computes a
student's estimated family contribution toward college expenses based
on income and asset information, as well as an estimated Pell Grant
award.

-- "The Scholarship Database Application" -- A detailed application with
instructions to be completed and returned for input into a national
database of scholarships. A customized report of possible scholarship
opportunities is generated and sent to the applicant.

"Financial aid is available, but first parents and students must be made
aware of and then apply for assistance," said Milt Wright, TG President and
CEO.
