DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNICATION
UNIVERSITY OF MASSACHUSETTS/AMHERST
The Department of Communication of the University of Massachusetts at
Amherst invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor.
We seek a productive scholar and an excellent teacher in the area of
Communication Policy. Specific areas of expertise may include the
history of media regulation; First Amendment issues; policy
implications of new communication technologies; discursive
constructions of media policy; government, media, and social movements
in policy formation; telecommunication policy and children; media
policy and globalization. Teaching and student supervision at B.A.,
M.A., and Ph.D. levels, and active contribution to a new
inter-departmental M.A. Program in Public Policy, are expected.
Completed Ph.D. (by Sept. 1, 2000 appointment) required. Salary is
competitive; the position is contingent upon funding. Review of
applications will begin on September 15, 1999, and will continue until
the position is filled. Letters of application should include a
curriculum vita, three letters of reference, evidence of teaching
effectiveness, and one article-length example of research. Send
