Latina Action Day
Sacramento, CA
April 6-7, '99.
Several hundred Latinas will attend the 5th Annual Latina Action Day
hosted by HOPE (Hispanas Organized for Political Equality), a non-profit
civic and voter education organization.
Latina Action Day, designed to educate and empower Latinas in
the political process, has grown from 100 to more than 500 participants
in the last five years. This year, Latina Action Day is planned for
Wednesday, April 7, with a day of preparatory activities called Latina
Empowerment Day on Tuesday, April 6 in the Sacramento Convention Center
and State Capital.
Attendees of the event will participate in the following
activities:
Latina Empowerment Day (April 6) - This day includes a power lunch,
professional roundtables, student workshops, a legislative reception and
a Latina Leadership Gala.
Latina Action Day (April 7) - This day includes Adelante
Latina Breakfast, a march to the Capitol and appointments with
key legislators .
