Lecturers for Peru - Spring Break

The National Assembly of University Provosts and the
Programa Bolivar - Peru, are organizing a set of Seminars
of Academic Enhancement for Peruvian universities'
professors (named BUT-BUT).

The aim of these seminars is to help boost the scholar
background of public university professors who teach
amid conditions of overall underdevelopment within Peru.

For such purpose, the organizers are accepting applications
of prospective lecturers in the fields of Economics,
Mathematics, Biotechnology, IT or Telecommunications.

The selected candidates will be invited to deliver two lectures
(90 mins. each), and to engage in academic discussions
with the participants. The Seminars are scheduled to take place
during the 1999 Spring break (March 15th - 20th).

Travel & accommodation expenses will be covered by the organizers.
Besides providing the lecturers with the opportunity of interacting with

colleagues from a quite less developed setting, lecturers might
want to take advantage of the occasion to travel into Peru (Cuss -
Macchu Picchu; the Amazon jungle; etc.).

The organizers are willing to receive all kinds of topic proposals
within the aforementioned fields. It is highly preferred that the
lecturers are fluent in Spanish.

For further information, or to apply by submitting a one page proposal
(BO, topic, justification, focus, etc.), please
contact Prof. Oscar Schiappa, at: oschiappa@wcl.american.edu .
