I will be spending 2 weeks in Costa Rica and Panama at the end of February
and am trying to do some background information. I noticed on the US State
Department listings that there have been some incidents of violence
against tourists, including robbery by taxi drivers and rape incidents.
Having not been there in 5 years (when it seemed like it was relatively
safe), I'm wondering if conditions have changed since then or how much
credence to give to what I read. If anybody in either country (or whom has
been there recently) has any information to pass on to me, I would be most
grateful.
