While this does not specifically relate to Latin America, I would like to
enlist the collective wisdom of the group in support of something that I
have been asked to participate in at work.

Some background: I work for the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy -
the only public, residential, three year high school in the United States
for students "gifted and talented" in math and science. Please don't let
our name fool you... we are not just a large collevtion of math and science
geeks. In addiiton to four years of math and of science in a three year
period, the kids have to do everything else - English, Scoial Studies,
Foriegn Language, Wellness, Fine Arts and Drivers Education. We also offer
17 interscholastic sports and our kids participate in such other things as
History Fair and Model United Nations and Future Problem Solving Bowl.

In my role as "Advisor" to our Aisan Cultures Club (don't ask... it's a
long story), I as well as the Advisors from our Afro-American and Latino
student groups have been asked to participate in a series of meetings
designed to look at our curriculum from the perspective of the diversity
within our student population (Students: 60% white, 30% asian, 10%
black/hispanic; 50% male, 50% female).

What suggestions might the group have to help me with dealing with this...
what questions should be asked? Your feedback is welcome.
