SALARY RANGE: $36,000/year to $40,000/year
SUMMARY OF DUTIES
The Latin American Institute seeks a full-time Associate Director to
direct and manage the overall operation and activities of the Latin
America Data Base (LADB), a subscription-based online news and
educational service on Latin America. Responsible for supervising a
professional staff of eight; preparing and administering annual
operating budgets; setting overall organizational direction, including
mission, strategies, and annual objectives; coordinating special
projects of LADB; preparing grant proposals; moving LADB into a Web
environment; and overseeing marketing, user support, and training
activities.
The above statement reflects the general duties considered necessary to
describe the principal functions of the position and shall not be
considered inclusive of all work requirements that may be required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Master's degree in business administration, Latin American studies, or
related social science discipline, and 5 years professional experience
in a managerial position involving Latin America. Directly related
education and experience may be substituted for each other on a year-
for-year basis.
DEPARTMENT SPECIFICATIONS
Desired: professional experience as a supervisor or director;
demonstrated success in fund raising; experience managing multiple
projects; excellent ability to read, write, and speak Spanish;
proficiency with PCS and VMS databases; thorough knowledge of electronic
information industry, including Internet technology; excellent
communications skills.
