A colega from YSU has asked me to distribute to interested scholars who might
contribute a piece for their volume, NATION-BUILDING IN THE ACADEMY: SCHOLARS
OF COLOR SPEAK OUT.
****CALL FOR PAPERS***
In contemporary academic culture, academics of color encounter and must
combat
problems like isolation, neglect, exploitation of time and resources,
ghettoization in pedagogy and research, lack of mentoring in general, and
inaccessibility to mentoring specifically attentive to our needs. The
purpose
of this project is to engage and resist this status quo, to build pan-ethnic
communities and to forge nation building enterprises among scholars of color
We can do this by sharing survival strategies, establishing networks and
relating narratives. We want NATION-BUILDING IN THE ACADEMY: SCHOLARS OF
COLOR SPEAK OUT to be filled with the voices of the tenured, nontenured and
untenurable men and women, college and university teachers and other
academics of color dedicated to multicultural education, pan-ethnic coalition
building and curriculum and institutional transformation in higher education.
***************************************************
We are inviting all scholars of color concerned with this marginalization to
submit papers for a new collection of essays. If you would like to be a part
of this groundbreaking project, please submit your abstract or proposal by:
DEC. 31, 1994 OR THE FINAL COPY OF YOUR PAPER (both hard copy and IBM or
MAC disk) by MARCH 1, 1995 to:
