Catalan'Cellist Maestro Pablo Casals' documentary on his life, "Songs of the Birds" still gives inspiration. He refused to set
foot on US soil after USA and other countries fully supported
General Franco's murder of Spanish workers and peasants and the repressive nature of the years that followed Franco's 'Civil' War
-the then testing area for the modern weapons of US Allies plus
Hitler and Mussolini.
From a small town near Barcelona his life became a passion for
Peace and Democracy for his Native Spanish soil. His mother
and his wife were from Puerto Rico.
He was given the UN Peace Prize for 1971. His kind of peace and
freedom meant similarity with that of the birds, but certainly
nothing like the imperialist terrorism, death squads and
outright stealing of the natural resources, the starvation and
enslavement of small nations that exists today. In my world Atlas, Puerto Rico is shown as a USA possession, which is why Pablo, if
alive today, would mucho prefer living in Cuba.....
In Australia until recently, we have been fortunate in having
two sections of National media on which provide the facts of the
ugly American greed and power. Many US citizens came here just to
get copies of those. For instance they were able to watch the
"Panama Deception" with the US President's face, twisted
in fury and hate directed at General Noriega and the drug trade
coming through Panama. The face was also meant to impress the US
Public on why his planned war was necessary. The birds he staked
his re-election on were gun-ships and bombers, who came in the
dead of night and, with the US forces based on the ground, wiped
out the whole Panamanian Army and approximately 20,000 'collateral'
citizens, most of whom were buried in US bases to hide the Truth.
But Noriega was on the CIA payroll. No doubt that finally
sickened him. He was not allowed natural justice in the US Court
nor allowed to produce very material evidence. His successors,
according to reports, have doubled the amounts of drugs flowing to
the USA. The Panamanian Army was destroyed by the Pentagon so
that US could claim to be the only defenders of the Panama Canal.
>From what? So Uncle Sam is now in total control. But why were the poorest areas of the City fire-bombed with so many thousands unable
to escape the flames? Evidently, Republicans, Tories of all the
wealth nations have decided to wage war on the poor, their hard-won rights as humans, their welfare and their meagre health care, legal protection and natural justice. The poor only serve a cynically
useful purpose when armies are needed to fight some other
imperalist for the resources of another country. On that day,
"YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU," is the cry for volunteers/draftees!

The Beauty of Cuba then, is that it is the only nation which
cares for and educates its PEOPLE first. Cuba is the shining light
for the large numbers who try to help with their solidarity the tremendous fight by Cuba against the terrorism and bullying of the
US war effort to degrade and enslave its people. Its media and Fidel Castro only ever speak the truth about any problem -a very unusual phenomenon in the Western Allies fat, bloated, obscenely wealthy
media magnates. Fidel is thus respected everywhere outside USA and
by many of those concerned citizens of the USA, even by 98% of the
voting nation members of the United Nations. Cuba has outstayed
nine cloned, warlike Presidents so far.
Cuba has nothing to hide. Great progress is being made to change
the nature of food production with less concentration on sugar and
more on bio-diversity, natural fertilisers. Cuban children are
trained and ready to defend their Revolution -not just Fidel's revolution. Cuba is always ready to help others with a brilliant
array of cheap or free medical advances, and specialist doctors.
. A few yuppies run away to USA, or join family members there, but
most will only find work eventually, after a year or two in the
soup kitchens, or with the poor blacks in the Marines to be used
in the next US invasion of Nicaragua, or Guatemala, or North Korea or Angola (if US General Savimbi throws in the towel)....
I mentioned in a previous letter that no-one cared much whether
Mr Clinton won Florida (inc.Miami), so long as he lost everything
else. But he lost even Florida, 15 to 8. Is he basically just
another imperialist republican and will continue on their program
of exploitation and deprivation of the workers and poor? The
American people should begin to think about their own future. They
will get no joy from their Transnational Freetraders. END.
