We have a paper about internet in africa submitted to the
2nd African Conference on research in computer science to
be held next October in Burkina Faso.
This paper can be retrieved via ftp at
ftp.iro.umontreal.ca/pub/its (file reseaux.ps)
The abstract of our paper can be read as follow:
Internet is an indispensable tool that african countries
may take advantage for (1) a regional integration, (2)
an involvment into international activities and (3) a
complete control on their development. We present a
scenario for the evolution of african's actual
telecommunication equipment toward full internet. The
countries covered by this study are: Burkina Faso,
Cameroun, Ivory-Cost, Gabon, Chad, Togo and Senegal.
The paper is written in french. We are planning to have
an english version by may as we are working on other
subject matters. However if you have any idea of people
who can easily and quickly translate the paper, please
notice and we will arrange it.
