"Argentina: A Decade of Democracy"
Dickinson Hall, Princeton University
Friday, March 25, 1:00-6:00 pm
Saturday, March 26, 9:00am-1:00pm

"This conference seeks to appraise the achievements and
disappointments, breakthroughs and setbacks of a decade's experience
in rebuilding democracy. ... Has Argentina now broken the impasse
which condemned it to political turbulence and economic decline
since the Second World War? Or has it created a new host of
obstacles or fetters on future development? ... We propose an
inter-disciplinary discussion of the effects and promises of a
particular moment of the democratic experience. ... We propose to
have four panels, each covering a chronological period, from the
legacy of the pre-1983 years, the Alfonsin presidency, Menem's rule,
and finally a discussion of the country's future. ..."
