WOMEN TRAVELERS TO THE CARIBBEAN. Lizabeth Paravisini-gebert and
Ivette Romero seek submissions for a collection of essays about women
travelers to the Caribbean. Of particular interest are studies focusing on
issues of race, gender, culture, and national identity. Manuscripts should
not exceed 12,000 words (25 double-spaced, typed pages) and are due by 1
September 1994. Send inquiries, abstracts, or two copies of papers to
Lizabeth Paravisini-Gebert, Department of Hispanic Studies, Box 541, Vassar
College, Poughkeepsie, New York 12601.
VOUDOU, SANTERIA, AND OBEAH IN THE LITERATURES AND CULTURES OF THE
CARIBBEAN. The editors are soliciting manuscripts for a collection of
essays exploring Afro-American religious syncretism in the region's
literatures and cultures. Multidisciplinary and comparative studies are
welcome, as are articles that examine issues of race, gender, and class.
Articles should be no more than 25 pages in length and should conform to
the MLA Style MAnual. The deadline is 1 October 1994. Send queries,
